End-to-End Survey Delivery, From Design to Data
Context
Survey work spanning very different contexts: large-scale household CAPI surveys across East Africa, a multi-country agricultural programme requiring ODK tools for an impact assessment endline, and a bespoke online survey of a small, high-profile respondent group.
The Challenge
Each context demanded a genuinely different approach. Large-scale field surveys need robust offline tooling, trained enumerator teams, and rigorous fieldwork management across dozens of staff. A programme endline needs baseline tools carefully updated and reprogrammed without breaking comparability. A survey of senior figures needs a lightweight, low-friction online tool and a delivery approach that respects busy, high-profile respondents' time.
What I Did
I have managed dozens of large-scale CAPI surveys end-to-end across East Africa, from instrument design through to fieldwork completion, sometimes leading teams of 50+ field staff. I have designed and configured survey tools in ODK, then overseeing training, fieldwork, analysis, and reporting across multiple countries. I designed and configured complex online survey tools, then managed distribution and response monitoring for high-profile respondents.
Outcome
Across all three, the survey delivered clean, usable data appropriate to its context, whether that meant a validated, comparable endline dataset, a completed multi-country fieldwork round, or a high response rate from an unusually hard-to-reach respondent group. The common thread: choosing the right tool and approach for the audience and context, not defaulting to one method regardless of fit.
