Numbers without Fear
Callum’s path into MEL wasn’t a straight line.
After university, he spent two years teaching English in Seoul, before returning to the UK and completing an MSc in Development Economics. From there, he spent three years as a Senior Researcher at EDI Global, leading large-scale field teams across East Africa, followed by four years at Itad, where he served for two and a half years as a Consultant before being promoted into a bespoke Senior Quantitative Consultant role to lead the firm’s technical strategy on impact evaluation and quantitative methods.
Since 2024, he’s worked independently, taking on quantitative monitoring, evaluation, and research work for clients including UN agencies, OECD, National Governments, GAVI, and the Mastercard Foundation.
Callum’s work has centred most on health and migration, but has also spanned education, agriculture, private sector development, entrepreneurship, digital solutions, and governance. What carries across all of them is the method, not the topic, rigorous quantitative design and analysis that adapts to the project needs.
What draws Callum to quantitative work is the challenge of unpicking complex, noisy datasets to find meaningful patterns, coupled with a commitment to utility, bridging technical analysis and decision-makers to deliver findings people can trust and act on.
What Sets my Approach Apart
Good evaluation work needs to navigate complex realities, shifting field conditions, inherited systems, and messy data. Callum’s approach leans on pattern recognition built from years in the field, rigorous verification through modern tools, and designing methods and outcomes for the audience.

Qualifications
When he's not immersed in a dataset, Callum can be found playing football, bouldering, learning drums, hosting coworking meetups, running an English music club, or adding to a growing list of 60+ countries visited.
